January Second update

Hey you know something? For the past three days, I slept around midnight. I must strive to do better. Better as in sleeping before 11 p.m. My ultimate target is 10.30 p.m. :)

Chinese New Year is just round the corner. How is your school going to celebrate Chinese New Year?

Well, to answer Huisan's question, we should sleep around 10.30 p.m. so that our body can rest suficiently. Furthermore, we have to wake up early. For your information, I wake up around 6 a.m. daily (except weekends).

More often than not, I do not have enough sleep. Hence, I decided to stop this habit of sleeping late.

Miss you guys out there who are enjoying your lives.

Jan 2010

Dear all,

School has begun and I am really busy. So many things to do and so little time.

You know what? I have a new year resolution. To sleep early everyday. I used to sleep around 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. every day last year and have to wake up around 6 a.m. It was very tiring.

So right now, I try to sleep by 11 p.m. every night. I managed to do it for 2 nights in a row. What a feat!

Hopefully, I can continue to sleep early.

How about you guys? What time do you go to bed?

Comment on chatbox.

Till then.....

Start of 2010

Hey all,

It is a new start again.

You look back and reflect. You look forward and plan.

Do set some goals for yourself. Any goals which seem attainable or perhaps with just some effort, achieveable. If you do not set goals, then you lose half the direction for the new year 2010.

What is my goal? I decided to ........ (secret , not for all eyes....)

Anyway set a direction and work towards it!

Till then, have fun playing and studying.

2009 is coming to an end!

Dear all,

How are all of you?

This holiday has not really been a good time for me. Many stuff to think and worry about. Whatever the case, we have to move forward. I hope you have all enjoyed your first year in your secondary school. I say that will be the best time for you to make really wonderful friends who will last for life.

I have returned from a trip to Korea. It was really cold over there. I have to put on layers and layers of clothes. An experience I would never forget.

Over in Korea, I missed the weather in Singapore. Well I guess sometimes we take things for granted. So for those who complain about the hot weather, learn to appreciate it.

Till then....

Update November

Hi all, hey I am right now in Cafe Cartel, using my Qmax account to update this blog.

Tell you something, I have terminated my broadband at home so right now, I cannot access internet at home. Thus, I felt a bit handicapped, sort of. Do you know that the P5 camp is on 12 and 13 Nov. Next Thursday and Friday! I guess you guys are not helping out right? This year P5 camp, pupils need not stay overnight.... Not like you guys two years back....

Anyway, there are only 2 weeks left before the holiday arrives. It will be a busy period for me... Will update this blog more often...see you all soon, hopefully!

Mid Autumn

Sorry guys for the "absence" from the mid-autumn. Will try to make it next year!

Anway, that afternoon, we had a inter-school soccer match and after that, I had a dinner appointment at town till quite late..almost 10 pm... thought of going down when Yee Suan called me but got held up..

The next school term has started and I am a bit busy....not as busy as before but still busy.

This term is quite short for us and before we know, it will be holidays again.

Well, the P5 camp will be coming before the holidays. Hope I can have fun at the P5 camp.

As for you, please, please study hard!!!

Collection of PSLE certificates

Hey, did you all collect your PSLE certificates from the General Office?

Please do so earliest.

It is almost September. That is pretty fast, isn't it?

I have seen Hui San a few weeks ago when she came to school. However, I did not have time to chat with her. When I returned to find her, she was gone!

I hope all of you are doing well in your school.

Anyway, take care ya.

Post July

Wow, it has been a busy July for me. Been kind of busy somehow. Luckily, I am still alive and kicking. Anyway, National Day is just round the corner. Are there anyone going to the parade? I attended it with my P5s this year. Have to admit that this year, the show was better than the year which I went with you guys.

So, I may be making a trip to Malaysia this September. I am certainly looking forward to the September holiday. But right now, I hope that the Teachers' Day Dinner can proceed smoothly as planned. For those who are not aware, it is a dinner for who else, but teachers!

As of now, I am counting the days, well not literally. Hope that when I blink my eyes a few more times, it will be over. I mean the dinner....

Sorry for not updating this blog guys. Maybe I will try to do better. Next time..

Hey the picture which I had posted is found in the toilet.... :P

Look!

Look at this poster which I have taken. That thing which looks like a slipper is not a slipper. Well you should know what it is.

Weird, but that's the way it is.

Many interesting things in Japan. The weather was nice though it was summer. The scenary is good but in my opinion, I prefer scenary in New Zealand.

How was your first week in school? Temperature taking?

Well, you should be gearing up for your examinations now. Revise regularly.

The year is coming to an end before you know it and hey, you will be secondary two. Cool!

Back from J

Hi,

How are all of you? Did you go overseas?

Now the H1N1 scare is all over. I hope you are getting fine.

I came back last week. Arrived in Singapore at 1 a.m. on Wednesday. No MRT. Luckily got a ride.

Do use chatbox to update me about yourselves. As of now, take care.

Going off tomorrow

Hey all, where is the class gathering? Is it still on? Anyway, I will be flying off tomorrow morning. Very early. And guess what, I have not even packed.

Yiwei called me during the last week of the school term. Apparently, he and his gang wanted to pay us a visit. Alas, we were just too busy. Miss you guys.

Do organise a class gathering. Someone please take charge. Will be back next Wednesday. If there are nice pictures, I will post them here.

Enjoy your holiday.

Till then....

A surprise visit from these 2. Do you recognise them? Haha. Thanks for the visit. Everything changed a lot, right?

New Song - In background

Hi all, I am glad your exams are over (for some), and for those who are still preparing for your exams, I wish you all the best.

I have recovered from my cough. Sometimes, I still cough when I raise my voice. I hope I can say goodbye to the cough soon though.

Holidays are here! Any one with plans to go overseas?

I will be going to Japan. Hopefully.

If you have a class gathering, do have fun.

And yes, I have learnt how to add music to background. Who knows the song? Haha..... Not an easy song for you to identify.

Still coughing

Have not recovered from my persistent cough. Now it seems to be worse, especially in the morning. Almost felt like vomitting from too much coughing at the coffee shop just now in the morning. Lucky, I did not. Did that disappoint a few of you? :P

Beside coughing, I have a cold and body aches. Very bad. I must now abstain from cold and sweet stuff. Wait, maybe cold stuff. I cannot survive without sweet stuff.

Have a good weekend while I recuperate at home.

Lyrics

Learnt something new

Haha, I have finally found time to learn something new. That is adding song to this blog.

This is one of my favourite songs. Anyone knows what the name of the song is?

:)

To Huisan, it may not be easy to find out who sang this song. :)

Sorry, Huisan, it is not sung by me...

Anyway, I thought the previous song may be too slow for your liking. Perhaps this one.

Cough

I have been coughing for quite a while. Have not really recovered from it. I guess it could be that I could not abstain myself from the cold and sweet stuff. Seems like I have to make a greater effort in the coming week.

Have received from Huisan the photos in my gmail. I have to admitted that I look a bit weird in the photo. You are really resourceful to dig out those photos.

Anyway, those photos were taken during a recent trip the teachers made to several places of interest in Singapore. Interesting places.

Meanwhile, I hope that as seniors (all of you from 6H), please do not pick a fight with those currently in Pri 5. Do exercise some self-control and be tolerant. You are older, right?

Have a good week ahead.

Miss all of you.

Sick

How are you? I have been sick for the past 2 days. Still not feeling well as I am typing these words. Flu, sore throat, headache, body aches. Sigh....

I see that some of you have gone to my other blog. And some of my current pupils have come here.

Anyway, I hope that you have been coping well with so many subjects at secondary level. How did you find literature? :)

Hope you guys can find time to catch up during June. :)

For your info, I did not manage to go to Malaysia during the March holiday. Reason being, one of my close relatives had passed away.

That's for now. And Huisan, I am not rich. I cannot afford to buy apartment for anyone. :)

Monday, March 9, 2009

A call......

Got a call from 2 ex-pupils today. Apparently, they are having tuition at the same place even though they are from different secondary schools.

I wonder how many of you still have tuition sessions?

Anyway, it is already March. Time flies. Before long, the March holidays will be here. What are your holidays plan? I will be going to Malaysia this holiday. Long time since I have been to Malaysia. I will be driving in. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly.

Anyway, good luck for your exams or class tests. Till then, take care.

Feb 2009 Update

How are all of you? I have been pretty busy. Very busy indeed.

Heard that your gathering will be postponed to June. Well, maybe it is better this way as you have a longer holiday in June.

Recently watched a show called The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. A very long show. Very slow pace. Lucky, I did not sleep during the movie. If you were given a choice to age like Benjamin Button (from old to young), would you like it?

Another show which I watched recently was the Pink Panther 2. The review was not good for this sequel but surprisingly, I found the show entertaining. The cinema was full and some of the jokes were really good. There is a quote which goes like this, "No Man is an IS-LAND."
You have to hear the pronunciation to get the joke. :)

Do keep in touch.

Saturday, January 17, 2009

How are you guys from 6H 2008?

Hi all,

How are you all now? I have been very busy. I have received a list of the schools which you are posted to. It surprised me that quite a handful of you are posted to Guangyang. So how are things there?

I am teaching 5E this year. XW's brother is in it. Quite a busy period for me. Thus it took me so long to write this. I have seen some of your comments. Do choose a CCA which you will like. Nothing could be worse than joining a wrong CCA which you find it hard to quit.

Have any of you watch any movies recently? Have to admit that I am a movie buff. However, my busy schedule has not allowed me to catch any good show recently.

I look forward to your comments. Have fun in your school!

Almost ... end of the year

Hi all,

I hope you all had a wonderful time this holiday.

I will really miss you all. Take care and behave in the proper manner in your new secondary school. Try to make more friends.

There will be many exciting CCAs in your secondary school. Do join at least one, as you can make more friends through CCAs and CCAs can mould you too!

Happy New Year 2009!

Posting Result Out Today

In case you are not aware, you can check your posting result today.

Do leave a line or two where you are posted to. Include your real name please.

You need to report to your secondary school at 8.30 a.m. tomorrow (19 Dec).

I hope you like your new schoolmates.

Thursday, December 4, 2008

All the Best ....

Hi all,

Finally, I think all of you have made choices for your ideal schools. I hope you will get into your first choice. Anyway, do leave a line or two to tell us which school you have been posted to.

See you all around soon.

Highest Score - 254

Well, it was not surprising to see QN achieving 254. I have the impression she is about the same level as the pupils in 6B.

Anyway, the second highest is CW with a score of 229. That is a very HUGE gap.

I hope you will consider your option carefully. Find out more about the school which you are interested in.

Hopefully, everyone can go to the school in their first choice if wise choices are made.

I am happy for majority of you. For some of you, I think you have not put in enough effort. Nevertheless, PSLE is just a placement exam. So, just relax and look forward to your lives in secondary school. I assure you that it will be the most interesting phrase in your lives, if you choose to be actively involved of course. :)

PSLE Results Out Today!

Time now is 12.32 a.m.

In about less than 12 hours, the PSLE results will be out!

How are you all feeling?

Well, I am feeling nervous for you all. I hope you all did well to qualify to a school of your choice.

I guess if you work really hard, you should not worry.

It has been great teaching you for the 2 years. I hope you will remember the school values and be a useful citizen. Most importantly, be loving to your family members and friends. Always forgive easily and forget easily. That is the way to be happy. :)

You will see me in less than 12 hours. Gather at the school hall.

It is really amazing how time flies. You were about so young last year, and now, all of you are almost teenagers..... Grow up and be mature as you move forward.

See you all soon.....

Collections - I & E Fair

Dear all,

Thank you for your hard work. It is indeed a fruitful day.
By now, the money has been submitted to the general office.

The collection: $405.80

It was great! I think the fair provided an opportunity to work together as a class for one last time. For those who actively went around to look for customers, I have to say you are awesome.
Initiative is an important attribute to have. Kudos to those who went all the way out to explain to customers how to play the game and faithfully carried out your duty.

Though our booth is not very well decorated, I have a very good and efficient team of pupils who are focused and worked very hard.

A tiring day for those who offered to help throughout the day. I hope everyone can have a good rest tonight.

See you tomorrow. :)

Shooting Game and Bazaar

On Tuesday, 4 November, we will be setting up 2 booths. One for a shooting game, I hope it is popular while the other is a big sale.

Please bring a table cloth to school on Monday.

AL and CZ, please bring the poster you have done to school too.

SH, do touch up the blue poster I saw today.

Be careful when you are conducting the shooting game. I hope you will adhere to the safety rules.

For the bazaar, please do not sell the things cheaply. We are raising funds for the needy pupils. Thus, we must be street-wise. Sell those things at reasonable prices.

Last but not least, YX please make the token/ object for Mr Chin. For those who have seen this message, please remind her to do so.

Have a nice weekend!

Thursday, October 16, 2008

I and E

Hi, the I & E exhibition is about to start soon. Beginning of November. What you have to do right now is to think of what goods or services you can provide to raise fund. Our class needs to set up a booth at the old sports hall. We need to put up once stall. Thus, let the suggestions flow freely.

We can plan games, or sell something innovative. Do give some thoughts about it and we discuss it on Wednesday.

Enjoy your holiday for the time being.

Thursday, October 9, 2008

Finally, it is over!

How are you feeling now? Must be great right?

Whatever has happened, let it be. No point worrying.

Just relax and enjoy and remember to report to school on Friday, ie tomorrow.

Hmm, you have to complete your presentation on fractured fairy tales. Hope you did not forget about it. Please store your file in a thumbdrive and take it to school.

The next 3 weeks or so will be exciting for you as some representative from secondary schools will be presenting to you what their schools can offer. It is a big decision - selecting a secondary school. Thus, be serious.

See you all tomorrow.

Saturday, October 4, 2008

One down, Three more to go..(Four if you are higher)

Well, it is not tough, just nice. Of course, there are difficult ones. Anyway, just put it behind you and move on.

Gear up and make sure you score on Monday. Should not be too tough if you have revised your file and books.

All the best.

For those who need a haircut, please make sure you go for one. For those who need more hair clips, please buy more.

The end is near. Endure and work hard. You can do it for it is not late to start now.

Friday, September 26, 2008

Last weekend

This is the last weekend before things heat up.

Spend more time on your composition as you are more likely to score better in this component by learning useful phrases and vocabulary. Do go through the situational writing as well. Make known your intent in the first 2 sentences. If you cannot do that, you may not do well.

Your spelling book should provide a good guide of the words you cannot spell. Get someone to test you.

Do complete your Maths homework for Measurement. All 10 questions should be completed.

Lastly, spend sufficient time on your subjects. Do not neglect any of them.

Countdown.....

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Pin up hair

YX and YY, please make sure you keep your hair in place. It is the school rule. Use a pin or pins if necessary.

This is the last week before PSLE. Next week, Wednesday will be a holiday. Make use of the time to do your revision.

To a few girls, just for your information, I gave the T-shirt to Mr Tan. He said he would wear it only under certain conditions. You may like to ask him to wear it for you so you can take a picture. I am sure he will oblige.

Happy revising.

EL results and other matters

Wonder how you all feel about your results for EL. Anyway, you will get situational writing result tomorrow. Do go through the situation writing practices you have done in the year. You need to revise your work regularly.

SK has indeed improved his handwriting. It was indeed impressive that he could do it in such a short period of time. Hopefully, he can carry on with his handwriting. It will greatly benefit him.

SH has been too chatty recently. Too hyperactive. Please be attentive in class and listen.

2 pupils did not hand in their journals today. Disappointing.

Thursday, September 11, 2008

Changing of seats

Why change? Well, that is simply because you cannot control yourself and talk too much. At all times, you must be attentive in class so that you can learn. Especially during this crucial period of time, you must put in 120% of your effort, if not more. Thus, it is for your own good if your seat has been changed.

Let's make good use of whatever little time left before your major examination.

I heard about the quarrel between LX and PQ. Do stop your argument. Enough is enough.

Listening Comprehension

Tomorrow will be it. Prepare all your stationery and have a good rest. All the best to you all!

Oh, the homework for this weekend.

1. Situational writing
2. Composition on the scenario of a teacher fainting.
3. One journal entry T4/W1 on an outing you have during the holiday. (Any outing, maybe like going for a dinner with family or a outing to your relative's place) - NB: Thank you XW for clarifying.
4. Complete synthesis and transformation till Test 20.

Good luck!

Monday, September 8, 2008

El Prelim 2

Tomorrow will be your EL papers (Prelim 2).

I hope all of you will be able to complete your revision tonight.

There will be composition and situational writing as well as paper 2.

Write within the context in composition and make sure you check all tenses.

Do highlight the key phrases and sentences in reading comprehension passage. Analyse the question to see if you need to use present or past tense in your answer.

For close passage, spend more time reading the passage again and try to find key words in the passage which can help you.

All the best!

Holiday

Well, the holidays are here. Hopefully, you pp would have picked up momentum to work and study hard. It has been eight months and you all should be ready for the exams. Do make good use of this period of time to work on your weaknesses.

For those who did well for LC, I congratulate you. For those who did not, please do some reflection and come up with some strategies to do better. You will have 1 or 2 more practices before your formal LC exams. I hope you can all do well.

Do also go through the Maths PSLE booklet. Cover the solutions and work on the sums again.

I must thank one boy for discharging his duty conscientiously and his performance in fact exceed my expectation. He has been doing his duty daily consistently without complaining. I think he did a GOOD job! Who is he? Well, he is known as the "sweeper". Guess now.

Blogging troubles

Sometime last week, there was almost a fight over blogging issues. You must learn to respect others online. Do not go around writing nasty things about others as this is not the right kind of behaviour. I always believe in writing something positive. It makes people feel good and hey, people will like you.

Have you ever liked people who scolded you? If you have, I must really find out why.

Now, I like to comment about a pp. He is an eloquent boy and can communicate well. He is pleasant and obliging. He never puts on air. He belongs to the Red house. Who is he?

:)

Thursday, August 21, 2008

The week ahead

Last week of Term 3 is almost here. After the September holidays, it will be prelims 2. Dear pp, do take the time to revise your work. Revise those sums or questions that you have problems with. Don't do sums/ questions aimlessly.

Remember to complete 2 journal entries. One on the Olympic games and the other on your preparation for PSLE. DO add 15 new vocaublary words to your wordbank. For those interested in completing the LRD booklet, do use the Straits Times. You stand a great chance to win a trip to Hongkong Disneyland if there are not many entries. :)

Read both composition handbooks which have been distributed to you. Highlight phrases and vocabulary and write them down in a exercise book so that you can revise regularly. Do read the model essays a few times. For whose who are weak in the English language, I suggest that you spend some time to memorise the sentence structures and useful phrases.

Revise your spelling with your spelling book. Get someone to read out the word to you and you can either spell it out verbally or write it down. Mastering how to spell words will help you now and in the future (i.e. in secondary school).

Will provide more tips on listening comprehension next week.

Enjoy your weekend.

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

Oral Exams....finally

Hey pp, this is the real oral examination and you cannot retake it if you fare badly. As such, please revise what you have learnt for the past year. You may like to look at my previous post on tips about oral exams. Just remember, you can do well if you practise. Hence, practise at home. The reading passages, pictures and conversation topics in your listening comprehension book will be a good source for you to practise.

Remind yourself to use DAFO or OIA for picture interpretation. Do have a concluding sentence or two at the end.

Be mindful to look at the examiners (in the eyes) when you are at the last component ie conversation. Always try to talk about your personal experience. Do not be shy. TALK.

All the best to you all. Happy talking! :)

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Impressive!

I am impressed with the following pp for emailing me their composition so swiftly:

1. SH
2. ER (SH helped him, I think)
3. XW
4. WH
5. ST
6. LL
7. CW

Well done!

Composition Submission

All those who obtain 25 marks and above for composition, please type out your composition and email me at paysoh@hotmail.com

Do note that composition is an important part of your English examinations. If you do well in this segment, you can overall score much better.

Read up on the composition handbook (2 of them, in fact) if you can. Memorise some useful phrases and learn to use them appropriately.

Good result is not by chance, but by your effort.

Thursday, August 7, 2008

National Day 08

National Day is just around the corner.

All pp, please jot an entry into your journal on the signifiance of National Day to you.

You may use the following point as a guide.

1. What does National Day mean to you?
2. Why do you think we need to celebrate National Day?
3. Do you know how old Singapore is this year?
4. Have you seen the goodie bag for NDP this year?
5. What do you like about National Day?
6. What are you doing on National Day this year?
7. If you are going for the National Day parade, write about your feeling and experience?

The best entry will get a prize from me. :)

All pp also need to do another journal entry either about an experience or a newspaper cutting.

Thus there is a total of 2 journal entries!

I owe XW, MT, KC, YS, CJ and AL a chocolate bar. I actually wanted to give it to them after recess but I forgot. I will give it to you all tomorrow.

Enjoy yourselves at the National Day Celebration tomorrow!

EL Oral Exams

Below are some tips for EL Oral Exams.

During preparation time (5 min):

1. During your preparation time (5 min), you should read the passage softly. Do not just look at the passage. Try to pronounce the words during your preparation time. Get the hang of it. Do it at least twice. You have the time.

2. Look at the picture. Think hard and then describe it to yourself softly. Do practise a few times if time permits.

During Oral exams:

1. Be polite. Greet your examiners. Normally, there are two of them. Just greet them with a smile. Say, "Good morning."

2. Be refined. Pull the chair and sit on it gently. Do not shake your legs or extend them too far out.

3. Read the passage when you are ready. Take a deep breath before reading if you are nervous. It helps!

4. Vary your tone and pace. Vary the volume too. Stress important words in the sentences, if any.

5. During picture description, remember DAFO. Describe, Action, Feeling, Opinion.

Another way is Describe what you see (actions, feelings, places, objects), Interpret why things are like that in the picture (why a person is feeling that way, why is the person doing that action, why is the person dressed that way etc), and Apply your opnions to the scenario in the picture.

A common mistake pp committed is the usage of tenses. PLEASE USE PRESENT TENSE.

If the examiner asks you a question pertaining to the picture. Apply the DAFO or DIA method.

Do use a wide range of vocabulary to score higher marks.

6. During conversation, remember to look at the examiners. Look into their eyes and be confident. Many pp just look down at the passage or table. A sign of nervousness. Not good.

Relax and converse in the topic in a clear and concise way. If possible, showcase your repertoire of vocabulary. Use them appropriately though.

7. Before you leave the room, smile and thank the examiners.

All the best for your oral exams next week!

Maths Result

2 pp attained full marks for MCQ. They are AL and QN. Well done, both of you. You have done yourselves proud. I am proud of you girls!

For the rest, endure....I will make known your result soon.

Misunderstanding???

Last week, I tried to resolve the differences between PQ, YY and JM. Apparently, there were some misunderstanding among them. In view of the fact that they will be leaving the grounds at the end of this year, I hope they can work out their differences and be friends. If they cannot be friend, I hope they will not be at loggerheads.

Please do not throw insults at one another. Be nice, and do not call "names".

Files Checking

It was really below my expectations. PP should be taking ownership of their studies. They should file their papers and worksheets in the respective files. But, alas, it was not so apparently.

Needless to say, many pp did not manage to submit acceptable files. Only a handful managed to clear the files inspection. As the pp are having their prelims, I decided to give them more time to sort out their files.

Hope the pp can do well in their Maths papers.

To some pp, I like to say these to you. Please be responsible for what you write in your blog or other's blog. Try to show respect to your friends. Even your enemies deserve your respect too.

Monday Blues

The day started well till recess. After recess, I discovered that CJ and SK did not complete their EL assignment. SK did not even go through the answers with the class. He was attempting to finish his Maths corrections.

In addition, GG had to throw a water bottle which was intercepted poorly by RH. As a result, the water bottle, which belonged to SH, dropped onto the floor and the water flowed out onto the floor. The water bottle was damaged as well. CW was kind enough to get a mop for SH. Poor SH had to mop the area, though it was not really his fault. SH, you did great in mopping the wet floor.

The majority of the pp did not have their EL files and Compo files. I have instructed them to get the files ready last week. Only a handful did. Kudos to XW, YW, WH, QN, CY, CN, WT, BL. (I will still be checking on these files for pp who had the file today but not up to a satisfactory standard.)

Tomorrow, get ready Maths, EL and Compo files.

Uncompleted assignment: GG T3/Compo 3 - Have to copy due to illegible hardwriting
SH T3/Compo 3 - Have to submit tomorrow
PQ T3/Compo 2 - Have to redo and submit tomorrow

Heavy weekend

There are much homework for the pp to complete this weekend.
Homework:
1. PSLE EL booklet, EL specimen papers and Comprehension passage
2. PSLE Maths booklet till page 39,
3. Situational Writing,
4. SA1 Remediation 2 Sentences Synthesis and Transformation

Next week, the pp are taking their prelims. Hope they study hard and get good results.

No supplementary class on the coming two Mondays, ie. 28 July and 4 Aug. I guess the pp must be jumping for joy when they see this piece of news. They do need a short break to re-charge, provided they had studied hard in the first place.

Coffee Drinkers

Friday afternoon, I was buying a can of coffee from the stall when I saw YW ordering a can of mocha coffee. Subsequently, I saw XW and YW drinking mocha coffee. Imagine! So young and drinking coffee. It was indeed a surprise. People at such young age normally prefer sweet and soft drinks to coffee.

Thus, out of curiosity, I asked them why they drank coffee. Their answer? Oh, to keep them awake during O.E. Seems like the young ones are maturing pretty fast these days.

Hopefully, the coffee did keep them awake.

Hmm, anyway the can of coffee is not cheap. Cost 1 buck a can.

Listening Comprehension

Today, I reached den and discovered YS, CW and KC not around to set up mini-compo. Luckily I found them in the hall. Together, they set up the compo. Not around to see if the LC was easy. Many pp did not do their work. They must really buck up. Do please change the attitude. You cannot change the world to fit you. Hence, change your attitude to fit the world.

Good luck for the others on Fri for Oral.

Projector Screen Repaired!

Today it was a pleasant surprise for me to see that the projector screen in good condition as I entered the classroom. I appointed WT to be in charge of the screen. I think she should be able to do a good job. YS has been performing a good job as a AVA monitor. Kudos to him for his effort. I thank KC, CW and YS for the set-up of the mini-compo. They must be really strong to carry the equipment. Come Wednesday, the mini-compo will be needed for the listening comprehension exams. I hope all equipment will work well for the rest of the year.

Oral Exam on 22 July

Oral exams is tomorrow. Wonder if the pp have been revising and practising their oral skills. With the huge volume of noise made everyday, I am pretty sure they can talk.

However, in oral exams, it is important to talk clearly and communicate your ideas across. More importanly, you have to talk sense.

The last component, conversation, might prove to be a bit challenging for the pp as they may not be able to react fast to the topic posed. Hopefully, as they are preparing for the oral, they will try to link the passage to the picture to a common theme.

I wish those taking the exams tomorrow good luck.

Study hard for who?

I wonder if you know why you need to study hard. I wonder if you know why your parents asked you you study hard. It seems quite abstract. Study hard and have a good future. Study hard and succeed in life.

Well, it does not mean that you cannot succeed in life if you do not study hard and get good grades. It simply means that you may not have a easier path in front of you. Of course, everyone has different strengths. Some can cramp their study and get good grades. Other can study for long hours and yet could not get their desirable grades.

I believe that as long as you try your best, it is good enough. However, you really have to try your best. Don't let the people who care about you down.

Study Timetable

Study table or study timetable.....

Wonder if the pp have done it or not.....hope they have...because I will be checking it tomorrow...if they have not done it, they really have to put in more effort.....a must...

Why?

Reason being, the study table helps the pp to focus and plan their time well so that they can complete their revision on time.

The authority places great emphasis on it and it must be impressed upon the pp that they have to complete the tasks assigned in the stipulated time period.

Having said that, I hope that I will be pleased with the results.

Forgive and Forget

Why are the girls not able to get along well with one another? Why is there hostility among them? I hope they realise that they are missing out a very important point - Friendship.

We are social creatures and most of us like to have friends. Furthermore, no one really like to make enemies. At least that is what I feel. However, at times, we made enemies unwittingly. Thus, sometimes it is hard for enemies to become friends again. Reason being, no one has taught people how to convert enemies into friends. There are basically no such lessons explicitly taught.

Boys, on the other hand, can be petty as well. There are those who are hurt and choose to remain hurt. There are those who are hurt and decide to move on in life. Bearing hatred in your life is not really beneficial in your development. However, generally, boys are more forgiving in nature. I mean generally, not all boys. However, boys are also generally more forgetful....I hope it does not apply to bringing their stuff and completing their assignment...(groan)....

We come together to make friends and learn new things. So, let us make it happen. Forgive and forget. If you forgive someone, you are letting go of negative feelings and thoughts. This is good for you and the other party. The action itself frees both of you. Holding on to grudges will make both your lives miserable, as you can never be really happy if you hate or dislike someone.

So, Forgive and Forget.

Introduction

An introduction to the class.

Many different and unique characters in the den. Lovely characters which made up the den. So many happenings. So many laughter and quarrels. Not very long, each will part their way. May all of them cherish their time with one another.
